Kyoungsun Park

Kyoungsun Park is a pianist based in the United Kingdom. His work includes both established repertoire and lesser-known works, and he has undertaken projects that combine performance with programming, arrangement, and recording.

 

He studied at Seoul National University with Prof. Hie-Yon Choi, the Royal College of Music in London with Prof. Dmitri Alexeev, the Hochschule für Musik und Theater München with Prof. Michael Schäfer, and completed the Konzertexamen at the Universität der Künste Berlin with Prof. Markus Groh.

 

He received Second Prize at the Isang Yun International Competition (2019), Third Prize as well as the Horowitz Prize and the Artdialog Prize at the Horowitz Competition Kyiv–Geneva (2023), and Second Prize at the Singapore International Piano Competition (2020). He has also won First Prize at the Artur Schnabel Competition (2022), First Prize and the Audience Prize at the München Gasteig Music Prize (2019), and First Prize at the Japan Open Piano Competition (2017).

 

He made his concerto debut at the Seoul Arts Center with the Seoul National University Symphony Orchestra, performing a jazz-inspired cadenza of his own. He has appeared as a soloist with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, the Orchester de la Suisse Romande, the Mihail Jora Philharmonic Orchestra, the TIMF Orchestra, and the Korea University Orchestra.

 

He is currently based in the United Kingdom and performs in Europe and Korea.
